A Lost Wedding Band, A Complete Stranger, and a Kind Heart
GAINESVILLE, GA — When Angel Jarrard recently went on a routine trip to the Hall County Recycling Center, she threw out more than she intended — her wedding ring.
“When I went to throw it away, I knew immediately that it had flown of my finger,” Jarrard said.
“I thought there would be no absolute possibility that we’d be able to find it no matter how hard we searched for it,” said Cpl. David Hirneison.
Workers emptied out an entire truckload of bottles and jars that had already been taken to the recycling center.
“I think that’s when I kind of gave up hope,” Jarrard said.
The one place she didn’t look is the place where she lost it.
“I looked down and thought oh, that looks like a ring, ” said Elaine Key.
Key was dropping off recyclables at the same center. She wasn’t sure what she’d found in the mud, until she took it home and cleaned it off.
“It was 14k gold, it had beautiful diamonds. I said ‘Oh, I’ve got to find out who this ring belongs to. I know they’re just sick’,” Key said.
And so she started posting signs, praying that the owner would come forward.
And she did. Through a friend and Facebook, the two found each other.
“We both had tears in our eyes,” Key said.
“I think more than just to have the symbol of my marriage, it was more of a symbol that there is still great people in the world,” Jarrard said. “She’s definitely my angel.”
